Tournament Recap - WGC Dell Match Play

Sam Burns wins the final match 6&5 over Cameron Young to take home $3.5m payday

Tournament Recap - WGC Dell Match Play

Well, if this was the last WGC event ever, it went out in style.  Both semifinal matches went to extra holes, which is the first time everSam Burns beat Scottie Scheffler in 21 holes.  Cameron Young defeated Rory McIlroy in 19 holes. This setup a Sam vs Cam final.  Tough for Scottie trying to defend his title, since Tiger is the only player to successfully defend a WGC.  Rory lost even after playing shots like this... smh.

Sam vs Cam was a battle the whole way.  Cam just didn't have it for his last match and Sam Burns took it down, winning 6&5!  I bet him a week early, dagnabitSam earns his 5th career win and first in 2023.  He takes home $3.5m for his week of work.  Cam has another runner up finish in his young career; his sixth runner up in 37 career events.  He had to press a bit the last couple holes and ended up in the water a couple times.  Oh well, the $2.2m deposit is a nice consolation.  Rory defeated Scottie 2&1 to take home 3rd place.

Even with four of the top players on Tour playing 36 today, NBC still gets hate for how many commercials are being shown.  Hopefully, the feedback is received because missing some of these shots is pretty unacceptable.

Matt Wallace took home his first PGA Tour win at the Corales Puntacana Championship to take home $684k. Staying in Texas for the upcoming week with The Valero Texas Open in San Antonio. Back to stroke play, 72 hole format, AND the last tournament before the Masters! Cheers, everyone!
