Thursday Night Recap - WGC Dell Match Play

Big dogs took care of business again today.  The top 6 seeds are 11-1 so far.  Rory ended his round by driving the Par 4 18th with a 349 yard carry to the green to rest 3 feet from the hole.  Damn.  He won 2 up against Denny McCarthy.  Rory also enjoyed a 420 yard drive on the Par 5 12th with some assistance from the cart path.  ALSO, Rory had a chip from the rocks that was lucky to stay dry.  Dude was a highlight machine today.

Other winners today were Xander (2&1), Scottie (5&4), Jason Day (2&1), Cantlay (4&2), Rahm (4&3), and Homa (3&2).  Keegan Bradley had the biggest blowout today with a 6&5 win over Scott Stallings.  

PGA Tour rookie Taylor Montgomery is currently 2-0 after defeating Jordan Spieth today 2&1.  Others that are 2-0 are Finau, Putnam, Young, Homa, Burns, Cantlay, Harman, Day, Kim, Poston, Scheffler, Spaun, Schauffele, Herbert, and McIlroy.  Still, there are a lot of scenarios where players get in to the bracket but if those guys win, they are in.  

The Corales Puntacana Championship teed off today.  Brice Garrett and Ben Martin are tied for the lead at 6-under. 

Weather

Warmer tomorrow with storms likely including high winds.  The storms should come in in the morning but the afternoon looks really nice.

My pre-tournament picks:

  • Scottie Scheffler - currently +450 - whooped Alex Noren today 5&4. Vegas favorite for a reason.

  • Max Homa - +1200 - took down Kisner today 3&2 and looking solid.

  • Tommy Fleetwood - N/A - no bueno with a loss yesterday and tie today. Not looking likely to make it to the bracket.
