Thursday Night Recap - Valspar Championship

Pretty solid start to the tourney.  Weather was great, play was slow (no surprise there), and some pretty normal scores.  As I said in the preview, this tournament is not typically a 20-under winner. 

Three golfers tied at the top after shooting 5-under 66.  Ryan Brehm (who had a hole-in-one on the Par 17th), Stephen Jaeger, and my guy Adam Schenk.  Schenk is a grinder and plays nearly every single week.  Jordan Spieth is one back after a 4-under 67.  He is keeping it cool this week, including when JT threw a tee at him during his post round interview.  He just seems to always be around the top at this tournament.

Weather

Today was beautiful in Florida and tomorrow should be more of the same.  Temperatures ranging from 69-81 with some more clouds but still pleasant.  Rain and storms are still expected for the weekend. 

My pre-tournament picks:

• Jordan Spieth - currently +550 - in a T4 right now, but looking strong!

• Justin Rose - +4000 - fell down a bit today after an even par 71, but showed some life with a Texas wedge eagle. Hoping for a bounce back tomorrow.

• Sam Burns - +1600 - currently T12 after a 2-under 69 (nice).
