Tournament Preview - Tour Championship

Hello members,

Welp, it’s all come down to this. The Tour Championship at East Lake in Atlanta. The top 30 players in the FedEx Cup points standings are playing this week in a staggered start format. Scottie Scheffler is in first place and starts at 10-under. Viktor Hovland is second and at 8-under. Rory McIlroy is third and 7-under.

Typically, you have to be in the top 5 or so to be competitive this week. Rory McIlroy proved last year you can come from way behind to take it home. He was 11 shots behind to win.

This week, the winner takes home $18m. Yes, you read that correctly. Some of that is cash now and some is paid in deferred compensation. Every player this week will receive at least $500k. Not a bad time to be an extremely good golfer.

Weather

Hot and humid all weekend. I mean it’s Atlanta in August, what do we expect? Highs up to 99 and lows down to 73.

Course Information

  • East Lake Golf Club is the host again this week, like it has been since 2004.

  • The club is very exclusive and comes at a high premium.

  • The initation fee is rumored at $125k with an additional donation to the East Lake Foundation of $200k

  • The club was home to Bobby Jones and much of the clubhouse serves as a tribute to his accomplishments.
