Tournament Roundup - Tour Championship
Hello members,
A weather delay and charging Xander Schauffele couldn’t take down Viktor Hovland today! Viktor shoots 63 to win by five strokes, ending up at 27-under. He started at 8-under so he still played out of this world to take it home. His winner’s share of the FedEx Cup bonus pool is $18m! He’ll receive $17m in cash and $1m in a deferred compensation plan. Combine that with his win last week, and he’s won $21.6m in winnings in the last two weeks. What a great time to get hot.
Xander Schauffele gave it the best he could. He ended up shooting an 8-under 62 to end up at 22-under. There was a moment where Xander was 21-under and had a birdie putt while Viktor was short of the green on the Par 4 14th. If Xander makes the putt and Viktor doesn’t get up and down, there it’s a one shot lead with four holes left. As it was, Xander two-putted and Viktor made a 20+ footer to save Par and keep the three stroke lead. Xander ends up with a $6.5m bonus for his FedEx Cup finish.
That’s a wrap on the 2023 season. It’s been a pleasure providing updates throughout the year, and I hope you’ve gotten some good information from this newsletter. It started as a “hey I would like to know some of these things about the tournament and golf course” to now over 168 posts and over 3,500 impressions, I’m very happy with how this first season went. I plan to continue this during the Ryder Cup, so I’ll see you in four week. Finally, I hope to start fresh again at the start of the 2024 season in Hawaii in January and would appreciate your continued support. Please tell your friends, golfing buddies, weekend foursome, father-in-law, coworkers, and everyone else to subscribe. I have some plans to do a redesign, add a potential sponsor, add even more content each week, and potentially some referral bonuses for you all. I’ll keep you updated.
Cheers, everyone.
What a season. 👏

Final Leaderboard and Payouts
Picks Recaps
Rory McIlroy - +400 - solo 4th at 14-under.
Jon Rahm - +1000 - T18 at 7-under.
Matt Fitzpatrick - +6500 - T9 and 10-under.
Season Long Picks Update
After 33 tournaments picked in 2023, a $100 better for each of the weekly picks would be up $2,200. Overall, a very solid year of betting. The fact I’m positive with 33 tournaments being picked is remarkable.
Some other stats from the year:
The average odds of the winner was +4412
The longest shot winner was Kurt Kityama at +20000 for the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
The shortest odds for a winner was Viktor Hovland at +400 for this week’s Tour Championship.
I had a stretch of three winners in a row early in the season, cooled off a bit, then hit two winners, cooled off, then hit another winner, and cooled off for the rest of the year. Overall, I picked six winners.

Scottie Scheffler finishes season averaging 2.62 strokes gained tee-to-green per round, the second-best average since tracking began 20 years ago (Tiger Woods, 2006, 2.98).
His 74.43% greens in regulation are the most by any player since 2001 (Tom Lehman, Charles Howell III).

One of the best ball striking years ever from Scottie Scheffler and he likely won’t win Player of the Year. Rahm’s 4 wins, including the Masters, overshadow his 2 even if Scottie was the more consistent player. What could have been had Scottie putted at tour average this year…
