Tournament Roundup - The Memorial Tournament
Hello members,
Well, my prediction was almost correct. The early player shooting up the leaderboard was Scottie Scheffler. He posted 6-under and everyone around him was scared of that number for some reason. The fact that Scottie was this close to the top with his terrible putting stroke is wild. Strokes gained wise, he was 65th in putting and every other ranking was 1st or 4th.
Rory McIlroy started the day with the lead but hit some terrible wedges and had too many bogeys to stay in contention. He ended up 3-under and T7.
Viktor Hovland gave it a good run to end up 7-under. He birdied 17 to give himself a solid chance to pull it out, or at least get in a playoff. He would’ve needed some help...
Denny McCarthy shot a 2-under 70 today and had a one shot lead going into 18. He ended up bogeying and went to a playoff with Hovland.
In the playoff on hole 18, Viktor was up against the first cut collar in the fairway. Denny blew it right, just like in regulation, and ended up just short of the green but it rolled back 50 yards. Viktor hit it to the front of the green. Denny pitched up to about 10 feet to make his par. Denny missed his par putt and Viktor drained his to win!
Viktor Hovland is your 2023 Memorial Tournament champion! He takes home the $3.6m paycheck and more importantly, if you would’ve followed my bets this week, you would’ve picked him at +2000!
We move north of the border next week for the RBC Heritage in Toronto. Cheers everyone.
The fourth win of his PGA TOUR career 🏆

Final Leaderboard and Payouts
Picks Recaps
Scottie Scheffler - +700 - had a good weekend after a 74-73 start. Ended up in solo 3rd.
Patrick Cantlay - +1100 - shot a 78 today to end up T30.
Viktor Hovland - +2000 - winner in the playoff! WINNER WINNER!
Season Long Picks Update
After 21 picked tournaments in 2023, a $100 better for each of the weekly picks would be up $4,400. Today marks my sixth winner picked this year. Glad to get back in the winner’s circle!
