Thursday Night Recap - The Honda Classic

Billy Horschel is tied for the lead at 5-under. The Bear Trap is showing its teeth

Thursday Night Recap - The Honda Classic

Another day, another unfinished round on the PGA Tour. This time due to darkness but slow play no doubt is the main culprit. There are 12 players left to finish their first round tomorrow morning. Hopefully, they can get back on track tomorrow.

Billy Horschel is tied for the lead with Joseph Bramlett at 5-under after their rounds of 65. Billy has never won a Tour event in his home state of Florida, which is a bit surprising. Pierceson Coody - a sponsor exemption playing his first PGA TOUR event as a professional - finished the first round at 4-under, to be tied with Justin Suh. Coody's twin, Parker, shot a 4-over 74. The big names of Sungjae Im (shot 3-under) and Shane Lowry (2-under) played pretty well and are in contention.

PGA National Resort, The Champion course, is a tough puppy to play. Nicknamed The Bear Trap, the last few tournaments here have had winners around 10-under.

Weather

Tomorrow should be similar to today, some clouds, a potential rain shower, sun, and temps in the mid-60s to mid-80s. Shouldn't really be a factor in the play.

Updated Betting Odds

Sungjae increases his odds to remain the favorite at +550. Horschel is now +600 and Bramlett is now +1200 from +5000.
