Thursday Night Recap - RBC Canadian Open
Hello members,
Four players tied at the top at 5-under, including One Putts pick and Canadian Corey Conners. He would be the first Canadian to win this event since 1954. Pretty big deal!
Nine players are one shot back at 4-under, including Matty Fitz and Brendon Todd. Rory McIlroy shot 1-under and is +1000 in Vegas at the moment. Clearly they know something we don’t since he’s currently T30.
Other notable scores:
Tyrrell Hatton - Even Par 72
Cameron Young - 1-under 71
Tommy Fleetwood - 2-under 70
Justin Rose - 3-under 69
Onto more golf tomorrow! Hopefully, the rain will stay away.
The latest update on the LIV / PGA Tour merger is 1) technically not a merger now and instead a newly formed entity and 2) apparently not going to pass regulatory hurdles in the U.S, and 3) LIV golf is going nowhere according to Greg Norman. I’m sure there will be a thousand other twists and turns throughout the next few months and I can’t wait!
- Oh and a Representative from California is trying to take away the tax exempt status of the PGA Tour now.
One other huge rumor coming out now is that Jon Rahm was the next player to go to LIV. To be honest, I’d be super surprised if that was really on the table with Rahm with everything he has said about LIV, but at the same time, never say never.
A bogey-free 67 has 🇨🇦 @coreconn tied for the lead midway through round one.

Weather
Tomorrow includes cooler temperatures along with high probability of rain throughout the day. Could easily see some rain delay, if it rains hard enough. Temperatures ranging from 58 to 64.
Updated Betting Odds
My pre-tournament picks:
Rory McIlroy - +1000 - 1-under 71 and T37. Pretty blah.
Corey Conners - +650 - 5-under 67 to be T1 with 3 others. Vegas favorite right now and looking strong!
Keith Mitchell - +8000 - shot Even and is T70. Needs to be under par tomorrow to make the cut to have a chance.
