Saturday Night Recap - PGA Championship

Backward hats, rain, and a whole lotta bogeys today. Brooks Koepka surges to the lead after a 4-under 66. The next closest round was Tommy Fleetwood with a 2-under 68. Can Brooks close it out tomorrow?

Saturday Night Recap - PGA Championship

Hello members,

Man, what a day. So much good content on the socials that you can see below. A brief tease - backward hats, port-a-potties, more hot mics, and threats.

The golf was pretty blah for majority of players, with the execution of Brooks Koepka. He shot a 4-under 66 to move into the solo lead at 6-under for the tournament.

The PGA teaching professional, Michael Block, was such a joy to watch today. He did the walk and talk on the short Par 4 14th hole and made a birdie, which was awesome. Dude just seems humble and nice. Hoping he can end in the top 4 tomorrow to get into the Masters next year.

Most players struggled in the heavy rain today. Some notable scores below:

  • Joel Dahmen - 8-over 78 today, +11 for the tournament

  • Phil Mickelson - 5-over 75 today, +10 for the tournament

  • Justin Thomas - 5-over 75 today, +10 for the tournament

  • Max Homa - 4-over 74 today, +7 for the tournament

Only 9 players shot under par today with 7 of those being a 1-under 69.

Scores should be much better tomorrow with the perfect weather and a soft course. Will a player 7 shots back take it home, like last year with JT? Only time will tell.

Weather

1,000,000% better weather tomorrow than today. Sun and very very pleasant. Temps between 48 and 74.

Updated Betting Odds

My pre-tournament picks:

  • Jon Rahm - +250000 - shot a 72 today to move to 6-over for the tournament. Very little chance to win unless he goes nuts tomorrow.

  • Scottie Scheffler - +165 - shot a 3-over 73 and was very uncharacteristic of him. Currently, 2-under for the tournament and only 4 shots behind the leader Brooks.

  • Tyrrell Hatton - +200000 - 1-under 69 today and currently T27.
