Friday Night Recap - PGA Championship
Hello members,
A little rain, wind, and “high” scores to describe today’s round. High is, of course, relative as everyone reading this would be happy to shoot what any pro shot today at Oak Hill in these conditions. But, I digress.
The story from this morning was the PGA teaching professional from California named Michael Block. He, at one point, was at 3-under and looking like he couldn’t miss a shot. He ended up coming back to Earth to shoot an Even Par 70 and sits at Even for the tournament. His post round interview was awesome, with this specific soundbite. He also celebrated his round with an IPA and watching more of the tournament. Finally, Block is a known good player in his area by basically being in the Top 10 for any tournament he plays in.
Thursday night leader, Eric Cole, finished his Round 1 at 3-under and shot 3-over in Round 2 to end up at Even for the tournament. Bryson DeChambeau was the Round 1 leader once it completed this morning. He is currently in tied for 4th and only two shots back from the lead.
The Round 2 leaders are Scottie Scheffler (current odds of +165), Viktor Hovland (+400), and Corey Conners (+700) at 5-under.
Brooks Koepka shot 4-under 66 today to move to 2-under for the tournament. He birdie 5 of his last 9 holes and is feeling real good at this point going into tomorrow.
Rory McIlroy looked better today and is at Even for the tournament. A couple 66s this weekend, and he may get it done.
The cut was +5 and below are some notable names missing the weekend:
Sam Burns - 14-over
Sungjae Im - 13-over
Talor Gooch - 10-over
Cameron Young - 9-over
Jason Day - 8-over
Matt Kuchar - 7-over
Rickie Fowler - 6-over
Matt Fitzpatrick - 6-over (bogeyed the final two to miss the cut)
Onto moving day tomorrow, although there may not be much golf. We shall see how the weather and rain hold up.
Wrapping his second round as the co-leader.

Weather
I’m afraid tomorrow is going to be full of rain. Hopefully it’s not a complete wash out but rain should be consistent all day. Temps between 49 and 62.
Updated Betting Odds
My pre-tournament picks:
Jon Rahm - +6600 - 2-under 68 today to make the cut and stand at 4-over for the tournament.
Scottie Scheffler - +165 - tied for the lead at 5-under after a 2-under 68 today. Looking real solid going into the weekend.
Tyrrell Hatton - +100000 - shot 2-under today to move to 5-over for the tournament. Made the cut at least, so there’s a very slight chance!

Adam (probably): Joe, see that leaf about 14in down the 3rd branch from the top? Looks like it’s fluttering a bit in a NE wind pattern right?

Rory McIlroy is 34 years old — and he hasn't paid for a round of golf since he was 16. That's the dream.

Of all the crazy things Bryson's done I still think the craziest is having a 60 degree wedge that's the length of a 7 iron. I have no idea how he slides that thing under the ball or controls how it comes off at all. Just bladed one over the green from the bunker.
