Tournament Preview - FedEx St. Jude Championship

Hello members,

Welcome to the FedEx Cup Playoffs where there are no cuts during the tournaments and the players are vying for massive paydays. The purse for this event is $20m with the winner’s share being $3.6m. Will Zalatoris was last year’s champ, and he is unable to defend his title while he recovers from injury.

Majority of the big names are playing, including Masters champion Jon Rahm, Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, Viktor Hovland, Open champion Brian Harman, U.S. Open champion Wyndham Clark, Collin Morikawa and Rickie Fowler, among others. Will a big name take it home? The top 50 in FedEx Cup points will move on to next week.

One Putts picks are below and there is a surprise… Scottie Scheffler was not picked this week. Shocker, I know. My reasoning is there were reports of him trying out a new putter during practice rounds and on the putting green. This will either look genius or terrible, no in between.

LIV Golf moves to Trump’s Bedminster Club in New Jersey. Coming off of Bryson’s 58, will they maintain the momentum? Also, Data Golf with the shade that Bryson’s 58 was “not-so-great”… eeks.

Weather

Memphis in the summer, normally pretty warm with the chance of storms. That’s exactly what we have this week. Storms overnight tonight and then slight chances for weather this weekend. Highs ranging from 92 to 84 and lows from 73 to 77.

  • TPC Southwind is a private club built in 1988. The club has hosted this event since 1989.

  • The initiation fee is between $7,500-$30,000 with annual dues of around $5,000.

  • The course is known for its 94 bunkers and emphasis on shot making.
