Thursday Night Recap - Charles Schwab Challenge
Hello members,
Round 1 is complete and Harry Hall came out firing! He shot a bogey-free 8-under 62 and is the solo leader by three strokes over Harris English. One Putts favorite, Adam Schenk, is T3 at 4-under. Defending champion, Sam Burns, shot a 67 and is five strokes behind. Scottie Scheffler, also, shot 3-under and remains the Vegas favorite at +330.
Michael Block came back down to Earth today and is in DFL after an 81. He did have some highlights, where he had a close tee shot on a Par 3 and hit a great recovery shot from a bridge. Besides that, he had three double bogeys in his last four holes.
- Oh, he went on a podcast and basically said “if he had the length of Rory, he would be one of the best players in the world.” The internet world is going crazy over this comment, and his 15 minutes of fame may be flaming out.
LIV Golf returns tomorrow in Washington, D.C. at Trump National in Virginia.
Scorching start for @HarryHall 🔥
He becomes the first player to shoot 62 in their debut round @CSChallengeFW.

Weather
Another day like today. Sun, a little wind, some clouds, and temperatures in the mid-80s to upper 60s.
Updated Betting Odds
My pre-tournament picks:
Scottie Scheffler - +330 - 3-under 67 today and in T7. Good, solid opening round.
Sam Burns - +1600 - same as Scottie, 3-under 67. Good start to his title defense.
Kurt Kitayama - +12500 - shot an Even Par 70 today and in T51. Will need to be under par tomorrow to make the cut.

Six golfers ever have won a major at St. Andrews and a major at Augusta National. Michael Block outdrove one of them last week at the PGA Championship.

This was admittedly tough from a guy with a “world class short game.”
