Harry Hall continued his strong play to retain his solo lead by firing a 4-under 66. He leads by three over Harris English, who had an ACE today.

The cut ended up at +1. Some notables who are not sticking around for the weekend:

• Michael Block

Speaking of Michael Block, cinderella has died. He finished 120th out of 120 entrants. He followed up yesterday’s 81 with a 74 today. Now, listen, I’m not going to knock a guy down too much that clearly had the best week of his life last week. I couldn’t imagine trying to focus on golf, high level golf that is, when you’re doing podcasts, texting with MJ, signing with WME, and posting ads on social media. And, he should be doing all of those things, as this week has shown that it’s very doubtful he becomes a full time Tour player. He should absolutely keep playing when he gets invited and when he qualifies, but I really think the Champions Tour may be his best option in a few years to be a touring pro. Anyways, what the hell do I know?

Harold Varner III leads the LIV event this week after shooting an 8-under 64.

Weather

Same as today… highs in upper 80s, lows in the mid 60s, sun, some clouds, and some wind.

My pre-tournament picks:

• Scottie Scheffler - +330 - 3-under 67 today and still in T7. Tied as the Vegas favorite with the leader, Harry Hall.

• Sam Burns - +6000 - shot Even today and is 3-under for the tournament. Currently, in T19.

• Kurt Kitayama - +200000 - made the cut on the line at 1-over.
