Tournament Preview - BMW Championship

Will Patrick Cantlay three-peat this week? Can Lucas Glover win three tournaments in three weeks? The FedEx Cup Playoffs continue at tough Olympia Fields Country Club.

Tournament Preview - BMW Championship

Hello members,

We move to Olympia Fields, IL this week for the BMW Championship. Unlike the FedEx St. Jude and Tour Championship, the BMW has moved courses a decent bit from Crooked Stick to Cog Hill to Conway Farms and now to Olympia Fields North Course.

A few storylines to follow this week:

  • Can Lucas Glover win three tournaments in a row?

  • Patrick Cantlay has won the BMW the last two years, can he three-peat?

  • Will Rory or Scottie or Jon Rahm get back in the winner’s circle?

  • Who from the 31-50 standings will play well and move into the Top 30 for next week’s Tour Championship?

  • Can Olympia Fields grit its teeth again like in 2020?

You may remember a horrifying video of Lucas Glover’s putting stroke earlier this year. I won’t repost it but it’s on the Internet if you want to see it. He credited a U.S. Navy Seal to helping him get over his putting yips.

As mentioned, Patrick Cantlay is the two-time defending champion here. He won in a playoff in 2021 at Caves Valley outside of Baltimore and last year at Wilmington Country Club in Delaware. With his second place finish last week, he has a ton of momentum and looks to be a favorite.

The last time the BMW Championship was played at Olympia Fields was in 2020, where Jon Rahm won with a score of 4-under.

Onto the golf!

Weather

From hot and muggy last week to very pleasant this week. Tomorrow should include some rain but the rest of the weekend will be very nice.

Some notable players to consider:

  • Patrick Cantlay - +1100 - he’s won back-to-back here, hard to pick against too.

  • Lucas Glover - +2500 - at this point, how can you pick against the guy?
