Friday Night Recap - BMW Championship

Max Homa screams up the leaderboard after setting the course record with an 8-under 62. He leads by two over Chris Kirk.

Friday Night Recap - BMW Championship

Hello members,

Max Homa have a day! He ties his career low and sets the course record at Olympia Fields with an 8-under 62. He had ten birdies and two bogeys. Just on fire all day! He now leads the tournament at 10-under, which is two strokes ahead of solo second, Chris Kirk.

Round one leader, Rory McIlroy, shot Even today and sits at 5-under. Scottie Scheffler, Rickie Fowler, Justin Rose, and Harris English are all 5-under, as well.

Speaking of Rickie, he had the shot of the day from on the tee at the Par 3 8th, 254 yards to about 1 foot. See it here.

A few players retreated a bit today were Jon Rahm, who shot 4-over and sits at 2-over for the week, Jason Day also shot 4-over today and sits at 3-over for the week, and Sahith Theegala shot 2-over and sits at 2-under for the week.

Some somber news that Hideki Matsuyama had to withdraw from the tournament (and the upcoming Tour Championship) due to a back injury. He had the longest streak of any Tour golfer in making the Tour Championship at 9 years. The next longest with Justin Thomas at 7 years, who as we know, didn’t make the playoffs this year.

I have a feeling we’re in for a tight battle through the weekend. Moving day tomorrow!

Weather

Same as today for tomorrow. Beautiful, sunny, high of 83 and low of 67.

Updated Betting Odds

My pre-tournament picks:

  • Rory McIlroy - +700 - Even today to stay at 5-under. Currently, T5.

  • Patrick Cantlay - +2000 - Another 2-under today and 10. Just keep moving on up Patrick!

  • Lucas Glover - +5500 - Better day today with a 3-under 67 to be 3-under for the tournament and T13.
